Lloyd was the son of Wiley Andrew Snow and Mary Ann Elizabeth Ridenhower. Anna was the daughter of Ella Yeager and William Daniel Margrave, a Methodist minister. Anna and Lloyd met when her father was assigned to the First Methodist Church in Vienna.

Wiley Andrew Snow's parents were Sarah Bridgeman and Calvin Neeley Snow who came to Southern Illinois from the Mayfield, Kentucky area. They stayed only a few years and then moved on to Arkansas; Wiley Andrew was the only child to remain in Illinois.

Mary Ann Elizabeth  (Mollie) Ridenhower's parents were Lavina Miller and Harris Monroe Ridenhower who immigrated from Rowan County,  North Carolina in 1846.
